The travel industry was once an industry that wasn’t very popular and not many people thought about pursuing a career in it. Those times have changed drastically. The motel industry, a major player in the travel industry, has become a multi-billion dollar business that currently offers more employment opportunities than many other industries. Some of the most popular and financially rewarding positions can be found in motel management.
A Growing Industry – A Growing Need
As the industry has grown, so has the need for managerial staff. Motels don’t necessarily hire as many employees as its larger cousins, hotels and resorts. They do, however, share many of the same needs.
Things like housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, payroll.. are all issues that require the oversight of a good motel manager. If you feel you’re good at managing, and the motel industry is attractive to you, there are a number of different motel management positions that anyone can train for and excel in.
You may be interested in training to become a general manager that oversees all of the operational aspects of running a motel or hotel, or you might want to just focus on a certain area of running a hotel or motel, like hospitality or housekeeping. In any event, a career in motel management is fast becoming a popular and much sought-after career.
Easier Access To Motel Management Training Courses
Because of the increased need and interest for motel management staff, there are many educational institutions that offer an array of managerial courses. Additionally, because the ability to be formally schooled in motel management is now available, many employers will give precedence to those applicants who have had prior schooling and training.
You can find many motel management courses online. Many colleges also offer online courses that make it easier for a person to get their schooling, and at the same time, be able to hold down a job. Some colleges also offer evening satellite courses so don’t forget to check and see if they are available in your area.
Another way to break into motel management, though not so widely available, is to get under the wing of someone who is currently in motel management.
Some motel owners will offer apprenticeships that can give you day-to-day, hands-on experience. Even if some prior formal schooling is required, this may be the best and fastest way to break into motel management, and this growing, under served and potentially lucrative career.

These motel management tips are really cool!
